Guitar Music
The great jazz guitarist, Joe Pass, said the following;
“If someone is going to call themselves a guitar player, they need to sit down and play music on the guitar for an hour…no rhythm section, no accompaniment, just the guitar.”
That is what this page is all about. Here you will find “chord/melody” arrangements of standard tunes, some classical arrangements, some country style tunes. The idea is to build a repertory of music that you can perform as a soloist whether it’s in performance, or playing at family gatherings, or just for your own feeling of accomplishment. These arrangements come in both standard notation and tablature and include an mp3 audio.
Guitar Exercises
I have been practicing and playing the guitar for over 60 years. During that time I’ve tried many of my favorite players’ books of exercises and practice routines. They all have an influential place in my music library and I continually refer to them. The exercises you will find here are what I personally “bring to the table”. Let’s face it, practicing scales can be a tedious chore. I hope they make your practice session more interesting and musical as well as challenging. John Carlini
Guitar Lessons
I was a columnist for Flatpicking Guitar Magazine for almost 20 years. During those years I developed lesson ideas for a wide variety of topics, covering classical, jazz, and bluegrass styles. Here you will discover a similar pattern of material. Each lesson comes with the sheet music including standard notation and tablature in pdf format, an audio lesson of exactly how to play the music, and an explanatory text.
